SkolaGigs is an online freelance platform connecting university students across Africa ("Skolars") with clients ("Patrons") from all over the world. Our mission is to provide students with a source of income and practical experience while offering clients affordable, high-quality services.
A "Skolar" is our name for the talented and verified university students from across Nigeria and Africa who offer their services on our platform. They are bright, ambitious, and ready to put their skills to work for you.
A "Patron" is our name for the clients and supporters on our platform. By posting a Brief and hiring a Skolar, you are not just a client, but a valued Patron of student talent and ambition.
A "Brief" is a detailed project request posted by a Patron. It outlines the work they need done, their budget, and timeline, allowing Skolars to submit relevant proposals.
A "Portfolio" is a pre-packaged service offered by a Skolar for a fixed price. It's a way for Skolars to showcase a specific skill or service they can deliver, such as "Logo Design" or "Article Writing."
If a disagreement arises, our Resolution Center is the first step. If the Patron and Skolar cannot reach an agreement, the case can be escalated. Our support team will then review all communication and evidence from the project and make a fair and impartial decision.
Yes. We are committed to protecting your privacy and security. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, and we will never share your personal information with third parties without your consent.
Hiring a Skolar offers a unique dual benefit. First, you get access to fresh, innovative perspectives from the next generation of professionals at affordable rates. Second, and just as importantly, you are directly contributing to a student's education and financial independence. Every brief you post helps a student pay tuition, buy resources, or simply ease their financial burdens.
We take verification seriously. Every Skolar on our platform is required to verify their identity and student status using their official university-issued ID card. This ensures you are genuinely supporting and hiring a university student.
Your payment is 100% secure. When you hire a Skolar, your payment is held in a secure escrow account. The funds are only released to the Skolar after you have received the work and have approved it as complete and satisfactory. This protects both you and the student.
We encourage clear communication between Patrons and Skolars to minimize misunderstandings. However, if the final delivery does not meet the agreed-upon requirements, you can raise a dispute. Our dedicated support team will step in to mediate and find a fair resolution, which could include revisions or a partial/full refund.
To post a Brief, first create your Patron account. From your dashboard, you will see a "Create a Brief" section. Click it and follow the simple, guided process to detail your project needs.
Any student currently enrolled in an accredited university or tertiary institution in Nigeria or any other African country is eligible. You will need a valid student ID to complete your verification.
Creating a profile and offering your services on SkolaKonnect Gigs is completely free. We only charge a small, transparent service fee on your earnings from completed gigs. This fee helps us maintain the platform, provide support, and bring more Patrons to you.
Once a Patron approves your work, the funds (minus our service fee) are transferred to your SkolaKonnect Gigs wallet. You can then withdraw your earnings directly to your local bank account.
Absolutely. SkolaKonnect Gigs is designed for students. You have the flexibility to bid on projects that fit your schedule. It's a great way to manage your time, earn income, and build your portfolio without compromising your studies.
A great profile is key! Use a clear and professional profile picture, write a compelling bio that highlights your skills and your field of study, and create detailed gig listings with good examples of your previous work (even if it's from class projects). A well-crafted profile builds trust and attracts more Patrons.
